This week we celebrate Jim's anniversaire and if you are good at math(, He thinks he is 44, cause he was born in 44. ) We had a Soiree on Friday with YSA celebrating different cultures with food and a bal (dance). We had two baptismes on Saturday (both Spanish). As we sat in the church I was humbled as I noticed two friends. Monique is with cancer and has lost her very long,very beautiful hair and continues to guide her blind husband as he honors his priesthood by confereming the Holy Ghost on one of the new members. Then I noticed a mother struggling to put her child in a stroller ( the child was flaccid and I could tell there were multiple problems.). After the meeting and with various interpreters I had a delightful visit with the mother. I should have just talked to the daughter as she had a large vocabulary centered around Disney characters and music!! . The mother spoke french,... she was Latin and knew Portuguese and Spanish and we needed many medical terms to discuss the problems with her delightful daughter. I am reminded of the miracle of each childbirth and the blessings that each child brings into a family. Sometimes it takes a while to understand why we are given different challenges in our life.

TOUR de FRANCE plus

Mission transfers happened at the beginning of the week and we are lucky to have some more native french speakers, This should help increase our vocabulary, I needed new french words when I went to the Maxille- facille specialist who wants to take a CAT scan tomorrow to make sure I didn't fracture the occipitel bone under my eye ball (UGH!) Then, yesterday we got up at 4:45 to drive to Grenoble to have a fabulous day, the next to the last day of Le Tour de France ,where they do timed mountain climb and we were on the uphill part.. It started with a of advertisement and fun...someone even filmed me as they were going to start a wave a 14h (2:00pm), We loved getting to know the Johnsons better with singing and stories and rating our favorite biker ( by color coordinated outfits, mais oui!) ) We arrived back home just in time to get ready for bed. Today is Pioneer Day, July 24 and I am speaking on with information about Pioneers from Africa, Philippians, Mongolia, and Europe,.. to honor our Pioneers here and now and then I end with a little Rachel Emma Woolley Simmons, one of my favorite relatives. Again I am reminded of how blessed we are to serve here and get to know Pioneers throughout the world

the comings and going of Friends

Tomorrow will be a big transfer day, the first for the newly formed Lyon mission which we are now in.. So, we dont know what will happen, but Pres Murdock is adding some 70 more missionaries to his fold. And we will have many new ones to work with. The announcement of the Paris land selected for the temple is a happy day for all of our friends here. Also some dear friends, The Aseys, Meredith, and Allie went back to the states this week, so most of this week was helping them, We traveled to Romainmotier, Switzerland to teach le yoga at Girls camp. Fun time for all! We both, ended up going to the hospital for our continued problem with my face and Jim's other parts. What an experience! First finding it. We thought we received good directions the night before from several of our friends in the stake. So Saturday morning bright a early (7:00 AM) we drive to Meyrin ,Switzerland, the next big ville between us and Geneva looking for Le Tour, we found it and as Jim tripped over the broken tile and the front entry way to the hours of the clinic, we both, knew from previous experiences with hospitals that this couldn't be it. So, we started walking ,walking, and after 45 minutes we found it, filled out the forms and Jim walked back to get the car while I held our place line. It ended up that out of the 3 Dr's I 've seen, he did the most, but still NO Xray. All the Doctors, look at me and say,, Yep, It's broken!. Get back on the horse

This week was about refilling our bucket. The sunflowers are blooming all over the land. We retraced our steps back to the end of the hike (descendre a Couzet ) and then later were confirmed by an ENT specialist that the nose is broken. Our Mission Pres wife suggested waiting until returning to the States for an operation to have a better idea of the Doctors experience and to be able to communicate just how cute and little my nose was before all the HAPPENED! So, one day we picked berries, all wearing red! We saw a white rabbit that looked like a stuffed fake one!, We always look at construction ( while doing missionary work) We have a new Au pair named Andrea, who came from Germany, but born in Paraguay, she is a great example of what we are experiencing everyday( SP, German, Fr, English, young and single and very fun and cute!!!), We went to Lausanne and saw the Archives, fascinating work with history and books. Looks like a good way to serve a mission!. Today I donned my hiking boots ( the ones we bought last winter that are one size too large) to and try some hiking, hopefully without slipping. We continue to feel blessed, and this week remembering America and the freedoms which allowed for the Gospel to grow.

I think these monkeys accent my face very nicely, purple and green!. Yes, it hurts, my eye waters all the time, but I can see, It is a miracle! My big Jackie O sun glasses saved my eye!
